Good News, Bad News...

Okay, so I'm back from the doctor, who was wonderful.

Good news--I've been referred to a surgeon. The doctor says there's no reason I should be in this kind of pain and that as it's so debilitating, odds are surgery (even just exploratory) is obviously needed. She agrees, I've pretty much been in labor for a year. Still, the surgeon will be the guy to decide for sure.

Bad news--I've not had an actual menses since roughly September. Dr was a titch horrified by this as my going this long leaves me open for infection and possibly even endometrial cancer, so I'm going to have to take some meds to bring it on. Unfortunately, this usually feels like I'm giving birth to a ball of razor blades. However, I'll tell you the reason I love my new doctor. She prescribed me pain killers, unlike my last doctor who believed advil was all I should ask for. So, I can't promise I'll be blogging all that well the next couple of weeks. But I'll do me best. :)

On the whole, I'm happy. SOMEthing is getting done instead of my being told to just live with it. There's finally some hope again that it doesn't have to stay like this. Even if I don't get pregnant again, I stand a good chance at walking without pain. :)

Big smooches to everyone!
Dee

Oh, honey -- I'm so sorry you've been suffering so much for so long!! But thank God you've been able to get some real help (at least it sounds that way). And yes, drugs are *always* a good thing.

{{{{{hugs}}}}} -- you take it easy, okay?!?

K., she of copious muscle relaxants for dealing with her own ball of razor blades...

Dee,

Do they know WHY you're not having a period? And for so long too. I'm going to keep you in my prayers.

BTW, your 58% evil genius ratio has me very concerned about you. :-)

Hmmm, annoymous seems to know me very well, lol. But is it someone equally evil..or moreso???

Tanya, I think it was that "Have you ever laughed at Funerals?" bit. Honestly, in my Mom's family, we all laugh at funerals. We remember the dead as they lived, and also in our family, most of them are nuts, lol.

Alas, I DID laugh at one funeral I wasn't supposed to, but that's another story, lol.

As for what's wrong with me, I've had endometriosis since I was a teenager. The dr has just assumed this is the advanced stages (you have to have surgery to know for absolutely sure). Periods can be highly traumatic and damaging, so, the thinking originally was to get me on the pill to give the lining time to heal, then I could try to get pregnant. I did at times request a period and he said no, that it wasn't worth the pain. When I got off the pill because of the excruciating pain, he knew I wouldn't have any then, either, and seemed little concerned. It was only at THIS dr's office that the words "infection" and "endometrial cancer" were mentioned because the lining should be out. I get the meds started today, so wish me luck!

Sweetheart, I'm just glad to hear that someone is trying to help. And that your new Doctor is giving you something for the pain. No one should have to suffer that if there is a way it can be helped.

You know I'm thinking of you and sending (gentle) hugs

Take care
